Office Hours:
Monday thru Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
Emergencies:
We are open 8:30 am to 5:00 pm during week days. If an emergency should arise when we are closed, we are affiliated with South Austin St. David's Hospital. If at all possible, please go to the Emergency Department at this facility, and one of our physicians will be able to see you as soon as possible if you are admitted to the hospital.
Appointments:
On your first appointment, please bring your MRI/CT/X-Ray/Myelograms films/discs with you if at all possible. We personally review all these and then return them to you. If you have radiology reports, you may bring those, too. If you don't have these films, please let us know where they where taken, and we will make every effort to retrieve them for review.
If you have had spinal procedures in the past, which are relevant to your current symptoms, it is very helpful to have reports or films of those procedures. Copies of clinic or procedure notes from other past treating physicians allow us to avoid unnecessary duplication of tests or procedures.
On your initial appointment, you will be asked to fill out a new patient packet depending on what type of pain you are having and these packets may include psychological questionnaires pertaining to the way your pain affects your life. These are internationally-recognized measuring instruments and valuable for us in providing you appropriate treatment. They should only take several minutes to fill out.
The initial appointment will last one to one and a half hours. It will include a comprehensive history and physical examination. Correct information about the history of your complaints, including the history of all interventions (physical therapy, chiropractor care, physicians seen, spine injections, trigger point injections, medications, surgeries) undertaken so far, will speed up your appointment and provide for better diagnosis. You will be asked about your past medical and surgical history. Please bring a list of past and present medications, especially what you have taken for pain.
Follow-up appointments will last approximately 15-30 minutes. You may be seen by a physician, physician's assistant, or registered nurse.
